History of USB Symbol

Created as part of the USB 1.0 spec, the USB icon was drawn to resemble Neptune’s Trident, the mighty Dreizack. (But that doesn’t mean you should go around stabbing people or trying to domesticate dolphins with your flash drive.) In lieu of the pointed triangles at the tip of the three-pronged spear, the USB Promoters decided to alter the shapes to a triangle, square and circle. This was done to signify all the different peripherals that could be attached using the standard.

Boomerang!

It feels like we just got out of school for the summer and it is already time to return. All of the stores have their Back-to-School aisles stocked and kids everywhere are picking out notebooks, folders and the perfect pens. Last year, which was our first year for EAST at MVHS, was really wonderful and it will be a challenge to keep up with ourselves. Returning students coming into EAST II will see a few changes that they helped plan, and a few new ones, too. Our new EAST I group are in for a treat. This is going to be fun, exciting, challenging, interesting and unforgetable!

Blast From Our Past – Cool Gifts

Angela & Travis show the very cool embossed MVHS EAST folios that we received through grant funding. All students who participated in our leadership retreat received one as a gift. These things come in so handy for keeping things organized!

Blast From Our Past – Conference Break

Allyn & Mickala take a non-break break during conference to double check some notes. We spent a LOT of time going to plan B, C, D, E, F, G …etc. for pretty much our entire conference experience.

Blast From Our Past- New Screen

Though it was too late for our Leadership Retreat, the new portable pop-up projector screen finally arrived. Though I was out of town at a meeting, the kids did exactly what they should have done and unpacked it to give it a test run. This piece of equipment was paid for through an AR Department of Career Education grant for Leadership Institute participants.

Blast From Our Past – Shelter Plans

Blake, Allyn & Jerry (1st place winners of the ArchiCAD Application Showcase) continue working on shelter blueprints months after conference has ended.

Blast From Our Past – Perils of Presenting

The price we pay for what we do! Shortly after presenting to the City Council, Mickala has a run in with a bee. It should be of no surprise that Angela had a bee sting kit in her backpack.
