We have a wonderful opportunity for the people we have served this summer through the TANF Summer Food Box Program! We learned today that each family/household that has received a TANF Summer Food Box Program box of food will be eligible for a $500 check from the Temporary Assistance for Need Families (TANF) program. Now, please register for the program. Each household who would like to register for the $500 will be able to do so by visiting https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/JYC6PNH or by using the attached QR code. The email and the QR code will lead you to a brief questionnaire that will ask the same questions that are on our form AND it will ask you for their Social Security number. Their SS# is required by TANF which is a state program overseen by the Department of Workforce. You simply need your SS# to confirm that they are a US Citizen and (I'm sure) for tax purposes. Remember, these checks are for people who have already received TANF summer food boxes. Individuals who do not wish to share their SS# should not be pressured to do so. However, if they would like the $500 check they will be required to submit their SS#. My understanding is that checks will be written and mailed on or before Friday September 30th.

Back to School for teachers! On Monday teachers across the district were able to participate in a poverty simulation thanks to a partnership with various, local stakeholders. Poverty is a community wide issue that together we can address to help our students reach their dreams and better our community. #havingfunwhilelearning
